Welcome to Troubled Dog

Updated: Feb 4

Improving community outcomes through collaboration.

Troubled Dog might seem like a weird name for a consultancy that partners with people and organisations in social purpose work. Which suits us fine. We don't aspire to fit in with the crowd of commercial offerings in the systems change industry.

The name Troubled Dog was inspired by a dog I knew who wasn't quite sure of his place in the world. People said he had behavioural problems and needed obedience training and medication. None of this worked. What he did respond to over time was love and connection with others: the humans in his life, as well as other dogs (once he got comfortable being at the park).

I founded Troubled Dog because I saw an opportunity to draw on the knowledge and skills I've developed through my lived experience advocacy work (which was originally motivated by my own experiences of distress and involuntary treatment within the public mental health system) to contribute to strengthening participatory approaches to meeting the complex challenges that trouble us as people and communities.

I'm looking forward to connecting and collaborating with the many good people already doing good stuff, for good reasons, in this work.

Woof, Carrie.
